Stourk builds your journey on your iPhone. There is no Stourk account, no Stourk server and no analytics. The app reads the date and location stored with your photos, shows the photos themselves only on your device, keeps what it builds on your device, and never sends any of it anywhere.
With your permission, Stourk reads two pieces of metadata from the photos in your library: the date a photo was taken and the location recorded with it. From that metadata it builds a local index of the places you have been and draws your journey. Photos without location metadata, and photos from iCloud Shared Albums, are skipped. The images themselves are never uploaded, copied elsewhere or analysed; they are only displayed, on your iPhone, as described below.
Stourk cannot delete, edit, move or organise your photographs. If you grant limited access, it reads only the photos you selected.
Stourk shows your photographs in three places, all on your iPhone: as small frames on the filmstrip while a journey plays, as prints when you open a city's letter (a screen-sized copy, shown and then discarded, never written to disk), and in the poster or video you choose to make. If a photograph is stored only in iCloud, Apple may deliver it through iCloud Photos when it is shown. That transfer is between your device and Apple, under Apple's own privacy policy; Stourk is not involved in it and receives nothing from it.
Stourk keeps a local index of places and dates derived from your photo metadata, the name you type for your tickets, and a small number of preferences. All of this is stored only on your iPhone, inside the app's own storage.
You can delete the index at any time from Settings → Clear Local Map Data. After that, Stourk will not read your library again until you ask it to. Deleting the app removes everything.
If you choose to save a journey poster, a print or a video, Stourk asks for permission to add items to your photo library and writes that one file. The video and the prints contain your own photographs, as shown in the app. This permission is add-only; it does not let Stourk read anything further. Nothing is exported unless you ask.
Stourk makes no network requests of its own except one: the map is drawn from vector map tiles loaded from OpenFreeMap, a public map tile service, with data from OpenStreetMap contributors. Like any web request, loading a tile sends your device's IP address and the coordinates of the map area being drawn to that server. Stourk sends nothing else — no identifiers, no photo data, no journey data. OpenFreeMap's handling of requests is described in its own policy.
There is no other server. Stourk does not use crash reporting, advertising, analytics or any third-party SDK that collects data.
Some pages in the app respond to how you tilt your iPhone. Motion data is read live from the device to move light across the page and is neither stored nor transmitted.
Stourk does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. It collects none.
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date. Stourk will never start collecting or sharing data without saying so here first.
